When I was first student-teaching at the Middle School, my mentor-teacher told me that one of the fun things about teaching 6th or 7th grade students is that they seem to think that you're a small scale celebrity. This was brought to mind the other day when we had an assembly and they invited teachers to come up on the stage and dance. I decided to grab one of my fellow teachers and try to swing dance on stage. This was not as successful as I hoped, but now I know what it's like to have 1000+ preteens cheering me to the stage (and a couple who stole my meterstick named 'Motivation').
